| We made the Columbus Dispatch
- This time for a good thing!! Seriously though, I was interviewed
by the pop music critic Aaron Beck and he sent a photographer to Byrne's
Pub for the Irishman of the Year Party, This years honoree was
Shamrock Club Past President Bob Basbagill. Bob has been a long
time friend of The Hooligans and we are heartily behind current
president Pat Graham at his choice for IOTY. Bob is short in
stature but every other defining aspect of him is tall and
genuine. He always has been and remains very involved in the Irish
community and is a great supporter of our Irish-American heritage.
We were proud to share the stage with him !
And while I am on the subject, Byrne's Pub in Grandview needs a mention. It is the real thing folks. Pat and Rick Byrne go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to keep the glasses full. They always have a great variety of Irish music as well as Bluegrass on a regular basis. They also have a thing not many venues do - their own sound system and engineer. That certainly makes our jobs much easier and adds to the enjoyment of the crowd. Murt Byrne is their engineer and does a splendid job. Pat Fallon from the Shamrock Club does double duty there sometimes and we appreciate their efforts to be sure. |
The latest thing about the Hooligans though is this !! With the extraordinary efforts of Kevin Cain and the rest of us and especially engineer Luke Lovett the Hooligans will finally have a real world, professionally printed and packaged CD !! It seems surreal to even type this in! We had a few local efforts previously that some of you enjoyed but never on the grand scale of this new effort. Seventeen years together and a cassette tape production from 1995 called 'Home Brew' was our only product offering to our loyal fan base. Anyway at long last it is being produced and printed. Our goal is to have them available for sale at The Dublin Irish Festival on the 31st. Keep your fingers crossed and say your night prayers that we pull this off! Thanks to Kevin for the investment and to all the long hours in the studio and all the Irish whiskey we consumed making this CD. Remember what we always say.... 'The More You Drink, the Better We Sound !!' UPDATE --- It's Here !!!! On Sale at the Dublin Irish Festival - This Weekend! Ed
